Shohei’s Winter Home

Hapuna Realty is honored to have been chosen by MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani to help locate the site for his future dream home. It’s been exciting to share the best of the best of our Hawai‘i Island, including the initial offering of untouched acreage at the historic Mauna Kea Resort.

When he came to visit the island, Shohei met with Tomo, and they talked about his ideas and his vision for an off-season home in Hawai‘i. She found him to be (not surprisingly) very intelligent, with a fun sense of humor, and it was nice to share smiles.

In case you’re not a baseball fan, Shohei Ohtani is possibly the greatest baseball player of all time. Both a pitcher and a power hitter, he started playing professionally in Japan in 2012, right out of high school. Shohei signed with the LA Angels five years later, and was MLB Rookie of the Year in 2018. He’s broken multiple records, some more than once, and has been named American League MVP of the Year twice by unanimous decision—the first player to do so in league history. Shohei now plays for the LA Dodgers.

Hapuna Realty is now officially accepting contracts at the Vista at Mauna Kea Resort, where Shohei has elected to build his winter home and training facility. His is the first of only fourteen homesites in this exclusive, very private gated community, with breathtaking 360° views of ocean and mountains. Three of the Vista properties have already gone into escrow and we are in the process of putting one more transaction together at this time.

It is our great hope that Shotei Ohtani’s home in Hawai‘i is everything he wishes for. We hope it doesn’t just “cover the bases” but knocks it out of the park, and far exceeds every expectation every time—just like he does.
