Barbara Jelks

As a Realtor® and an artist, Barbara is inspired by the natural beauty and cultural diversity of the Big Island. The Big Island offers more options environmentally than any of the other Hawaiian islands with active lava flows, snow capped mountains, and breathtaking beaches – making it the perfect place for her to practice her passion for painting.

Although travel has always been an integral part of Barbara’s life, she’s made the Big Island her home for over thirty years. Now a seasoned Hawaii real estate agent with extensive island knowledge and true aloha, Barbara takes pride in providing her clients a refreshing and unique real estate experience. She feels it’s important to share with her clients what it means to be Hawaiian in spirit, and how to be respectful of this culturally diverse heritage.

As a longtime resident of the Kohala Coast who enjoys horseback riding in upcountry Waimea, Barbara brings a lot of relevant personal experience to her real estate specialty areas of ranch and resort properties. Equestrians in particular can benefit from her knowledge of the area and communities. One of the clients she has maintained a long term working relationship with built a world-class equestrian facility right here in Waimea, bringing horses from Germany to work with their talented trainers.

Locally, Barbara brings her enthusiasm and energy to the Kawaihae Canoe Club, and is a member of the Mauna Kea Seaside Tennis Club. She’s always excited to get her clients involved in the local scene; whether it be music, art, fishing, diving, paddling, riding horses, or snowboarding on Mauna Kea. The possibilities are endless – Barbara is always exploring and finding new properties to sell, and landscapes to paint.
